The Role of Diagnosis in Therapy

These are just some of the broad categories I work with. For some, receiving a diagnosis can be a relief, offering a tangible explanation for their experiences, while for others, it can feel like a burdensome label that doesn’t fully capture the complexity of their situation. In many cases, a specific diagnosis may not be appropriate at all, and that’s okay. There’s no right or wrong way to feel about a diagnosis.

My focus is on working with you as a person—acknowledging your unique experience and collaborating on the best way forward, whether that involves exploring a diagnosis, reconsidering it, or navigating without one. If you’re interested in exploring a DSM or ICD diagnosis—whether you’ve received one in the past, have recently been diagnosed, or are curious about whether a particular diagnosis aligns with your experience—we can collaboratively explore this together.

If you’ve done some personal research or have questions about how a diagnosis might relate to your situation, feel free to reach out. We can discuss your concerns thoughtfully, ensuring that therapy is tailored to your unique needs and goals.
